    Hi,

I bought an iPod Touch and it came with firmware 3.1 out of the box (no upgrade). Does anyone have any ideas how I can either downgrade to firmware 3.0 or jailbreak firmware 3.1?

    Thanks in advance

you can't downgrade the new 3G's, they don't have 3.0 firmware like the 2G and 1G's

    Try this...
    1. DFU restore to 3.0
    2. Restore Mode restore to 3.0
    3. Ignore error 1015
    4. Hold down "Home" and "Power" for 15 seconds
    5. Release "Home" and hold "Power" for 2 seconds to reset device.
    6. Congratz! You should be on 3.0

Worked on my iPhone 3G. I upgraded to 3.1 and got back down to 3.0 with no problems using this method.

There actually is a 3.1 Jailbreak available using pwnage tool for mac. Just let it build the ISPW and put into DFU mode and hold down option for mac shift for windows while clicking restore on iTunes. Then select the firmware you want to use. Simple.
