I wish this would work for me. I am Gunna loose it. 7 hours today and about 6 yesterday I have been trying to downgrade my iPod. I have a 3g 8gb MC model iPod I just bought. It came with 3.1.3 installed on it when I bought it last Thursday. I have tried everything that has been said everywere I look. So mabye someone could help out. I downloaded the 2g 3.1.2 FW and it keeps giving me Error 28 when I try to restore to it. I tried downgrading iTunes. No luck. Dfu mode and recovery and normal mode in both versions of iTunes then try to restore. No luck still. Always error 28. I'm guessing it's because I don't have my SHSH's on file. But isn't that why everybody usues the 2g FW? To get around that? I'm helpless at this point. I know it's been done. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

BTW, I haven't read any posts anywere about my problem so I thought I would start this thread.

Yea, I followed that exactly. Mabye I am missing something. I think might try redownloading the 2g FW again. It's getting really frustrating.

try doing so on itunes 9.2, update itunes to the latest version
that may be the problem since itunes 9 comes with fw 3.1

try that and tell me if it works

do you have another computer? sometimes when peole try ion different computers it works

dont download the fw with safari, because it changes the extension to .zip

BTW make sure to connect the USB cable straight to the usb port
are you sure you are in dfu mode? are u sure you are doing it right?
