I tried to use 4.0 firmware to upgrade my iPhone 3GS, but then it said I had to be a paying developer. Unfortunately, I don't have the money. I have tried to restore using 3.1.2 and 3.1.3, and rebooting with iRecovery, but that doesn't work (can't type anything into iRecovery, it just says "Logout. Process completed" Can I either:

    a) Downgrade to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 successfully (without the 1015 error)?
    b) Register my iPhone (without having to pay) so I can access 4.0?
    c) Get my iPhone off from the "Connect to iTunes" picture?

Thank you for any help. Another option is to wait until the official release of 4.0, but I need my phone as I'll be in a different country for most of May.

Well after what ive read the 1015 simply comed because of the newer baseband version. Just like going from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2.
Just restore to 3.1.2, jailbreak and that should do the trick for you.

The baseband has been updated, so there is no going back.

Sorry if this is against the rules of the forum, I'm just helping. You can use a firewall to block iTunes from connecting to the internet, that way it will work with 4.0.

Im back in 3.1.2 again on my iPhone 3GS. Did a normal restore and used iRecovery to kick me out of recovery mode and now its fully working on 3.1.2 again
