I have seen a new tutorial on how to do this that mentions nothing about shsh? Should I be able to do this without them if I follow the tutorial?

    Thanks.

Also relation to my post earlier ; Why do YOU jailbreak?
Made me lol as I got quite a few people to admit to piracy and therefore get themselves banned.

Yeah you just have to edit your host file then put your ipod in dfu mode then shift click restore to 3.1.2
    Worked perfectly as a downgrade.
