Hello, I need some help with downgrading an iPhone. I only have experience with the iPod touch, but a friend wanted his jailbroken. He is currently running 3.1.2, and doesn't want a tethered JB, when I downgrade, will reactivating with offical AT&T service cost?

    Thank you,
    IceRayn

is this one the new 3gs witha new bootrom that can only have a tethered jailbreak? it sounds like that is what you are saying. if so then you cant downgrade because it has a new bootrom so it doesnt matter what firmware it is on. but if it is not one of the new 3gs with the new bootrom you dont need to downgrade you can jailbreak an iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 if it doesnt have the new bootrom.

    It shouldn't cost anything extra.

I've activated my phone through Rogers numerous times and haven't been charged as far as I know. Besides the point, two of the times was over the phone with Rogers and they'd inform me of the charges if they were any... And Rogers takes as much money as they can get their hands on, so I can't see AT&T having any charges.

The reactivation and restore is a needed process in the iPhone world.
