I put the file into my iPod, changed permissions and the dooms icon is there but when I open it, it crashes right away.

I seem to be getting the same thing, I am using the WAD file (the community one) and goes white and crashes too. The youtube video shows it running, I am trying some other Wad files.

"If the app quits immediately after launch, there was probably an issue with the wad file. If you're using the shareware wad, make sure it's named doom1.wad . If that doesn't help, execute the app from the shell so you can see the printf()s."

    Nice, controls look iffy though.

Well, it works -- barely. You can move, but that's it. And the movement is sideways; left/right for forward/back and up/down for left/right.

    It's a start I guess.

The WAD is the levels file itself. They come with the various versions of the game. You'll need a full copy of Doom (or Doom 2, or whatever other expansions if they're supported) to get the WAD file from it.
