iPod touch 2nd Generation. a line of new beginnings. I mean, what if there's no jailbreaking, no installing apps? what if everything is totally different? Do you think apple is going to do that? because the stuff in my iPod is good enough (besides the hardware features)

I wish that things are the same, installing with same apps, but with just a GUI change and different hardware upgrades and new design? I hope it is like that, because everything would suck if there is no SSH, VNC, iRadio, Emulators, Dictionary, IM apps, Hacks and 3rd party apps.

I bet you the 2nd gen Touch will have flash and the jailbreaking process will be a b*tch. If the iPod touch hack teams can't jailbreak the 2nd gen then I'm not buying one.

I don't even know when the 2nd gen will be out.

Edit: read the first post http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=205413

Anything can be hacked guys. If they make new hardware/software for 2nd gen, it will be hacked.

It's funny reading that post you linked to. It is dated 9-17-07. So Jobs announced the 2nd gen iPod Touch before the first one was even out to customers?? Sounds sketchy.

There will never be a fully unhackable computer(or piece of technology). Sure, it may take a little longer, but it will get done. Regardless, I don't mind either way. Although I have all the stuff on my ipod, I still only really use it for music.

At some point, the current stuff becomes paperweights/handmedowns/dog chew toys, and you move on.

Sooner or later, Apple will start pushing the "ipod touch" as a PDA/media player, not a Media Player/pda. It seems like there is no difference, but there is. A PDA has to have an open development environment and end-user control. A Media Player does not.

Considering the lifespan of these things is a year tops, I'm not worried.
