Listen, you need to DFU-Restore to the fresh apple firmware. Then everything should be fine. Your iPod is not bricked.

Are you putting it into DFU then just clicking restore? If so you need to Shift-click restore to the Firmware

why are you taking a jailbroken ipod to the apple store for repair?

    *facepalm*

what are you going to say? 'SBSettings Bricked My iPod!"

Just try the iclarified DFU tut in my sig, and restore. DFU is in the hardware, you should always be able to do it. Unless there's a hardware fault

i think there is a hardware fault because i tried to shift+restore it with 2.2.1 and it still came up with an error

I really doubt that. Are you sure it's in DFU? What do you see on your iPod? A black screen?
