wow 270 bucks to just replace the glass? was it an 8 gig or 16? you might just want to consider selling it on ebay or something and buying a new one (some people might buy it for scrap parts, you never know)

    it's just glass

no one said it was indestructible and contrary to popular belief, it CAN be scatched.

It's not just glass. It's a glass substrate coated with a micro-thin layer of conductive indium tin oxide -- the main component that makes this touchscreen work. That's why it costs so much. They probably replace most of the touchscreen electronics too so that the replacement is properly calibrated.

Moral: Be more careful. And buy a case.

Well, you didnt scratch the glass... you shattered it!

I would just try to sell parts from it on ebay... some people may buy it... and just get a new ipod... or if your known to drop things, get a Zune, they really strong.

you might as well spring the other 30 bucks and buy a new one so you have backup parts when the new one breaks
