I was jw because I just bought an amazon case that came with a mirror screen protector that distorts the retina display. I really wanna take it off because it looks alot better, but I don't want to if it's gonna scratch real easy.

    well, not really.
depends on how you handle it, how you treat it, and where you store it.

i had an iPod touch 2G for 2 years and it had no scratches on the screen. I was kind to it and didnt put it in the same pocket as my keys.

I have mine for a while now with a case for the back, and it seems pretty fine, although I do prefer the screen protector as I am trying to get one myself, but I have no scrates since this past Sunday afternoon.

O ok that sounds right. It might just be me, but does this screen feel a bit tougher than the last ipt screen?

nope, i had my 1st gen for 3 years now, there are only tiny scratches that you have to look really closely to see them. I would get a screen protector for an ipod touch

Same with me. If I can find a satisfactorily transparent (and low cost) screen protector, I'll use it.

You actually have to put pressure on something (such as a key) for it to scratch.

Indeed. And considering the fact that steel is softer than glass, you have to press fairly hard.
