What the title says. Based off of what you KNOW, not believe, vote for one of the options in the poll. (Preferably people who now have their hands on the new iPod touch 4).

    Thank you

It is a huge performance increase. I don't know if it is possible for it to be faster no matter how much RAM it has.

The more ram.... the faster and more fluently things run.

The iPod Touch 4 is 1.5x faster than the last generation in benchmark.

    Enough said.

You can only go as fast as the speed of light, no matter how many extra engine or rackets Etc you add. The device couldn't run faster, whether you add more RAM or not. Ofcourse this will change as new updates come out but as it is now it's perfect.

u mean if they put 2GB in the itouch, it will still run/load things at the same speed? lol

Of course it'll be slightly faster, the CPU runs at a higher clock rate. Even without extra ram, you will see a performance increase. I dont know how noticable it would be, but I'd expect it to be comparable to an iphone 4.

Ram DOES improve program speed, but ONLY if you need more than you have. In other words, ram doesnt add speed, rather a lack of it slows things down. 256mb is just fine for iOS based on how the ipod touch 3rd gen, iphone 3gs and ipad run. Most applications use very little of that ram, and the same goes for iOS. The only place you would really see an improvement is in the number of applications you can run in the background at once.

If you want proof of this, look at the iphone 3g compared to an iphone 2g. While not significant, the 3g is noticeably faster than a 2g and both only have 128mb of ram.

Edit: I thought I should add, if you jailbreak and use something to add true multitasking and virtual memory, then you will see more of a speed increase with more ram. However, most devices are either stock or dont use those so this exception doesnt apply to most.

The A4 has more cache and faster bus speed with a clock speed of around 800/850Mhz it is a great deal faster than 3rd gen
