Does restoring upgrade your firmware?

    My ipod is messed up so i need to restore it but i dont want it to upgrade the firmware because i still want to jailbreak it so does restoring upgrade aswell and is there anyway to get my cydia app's back after restoring without downloading them again?

    Yes and no. If you do a shift restore and select a 3.1.2 firmware it will go to 3.1.2. If you just restore it will update to the latest version.

    Damm i can't do the shift restore thing since i have a 3g 32gb

    and i have tried it,does anyone know a way to do the shift thing on a 32gb? PLEASE HELP!!!

    I you dont have your restore certificates backed up in cydia (make my life easier), then i am sorry to tell you are screwed

    you have to restore to the latest fw i am afraid

    You could select the firmware you want to restore to. The iTunes might ask you if you want to update to the next firmware i think you can say dont ask again or no
