    Hey there.
I've been working on Linux for a couple of years now but have only challenge to put Linux kernel on the iPod touch today.
Everytime I try to get it to work it fails.
Here's what I type in the terminal:

    sudo su
    my password
    iPhonelinux-demo
    ./loadibec openiboot-iPod.img3

then it just says something like:

    uploading failed
    uploading done
    uploading size

my iPod doesn't load the openiboot.
I'm running ubuntu 8.10 hardy herron.
So I wonder if it's not compatible with 3.0?
Or is it just my coding?

Openiboot loads before any firmware loads...

It is placed similar to where your DFU mode is.

It only depends on if you have a compatible image, or hardware for the image.

Do you have Ipod 1g, 2g?

    Currently only 1g is supported.

Do you have iphone 2g 3g or 3gs?

currently only 2g and 3g are supported.

    So?

Doesnt work for firmware 3.0 or above. I tried on my iPhone 2G 3.0.1 didn't work.
    Also why is iphonelinux.org dead?
    EDIT: They have www.linuxoniphone.blogspot.com left
