Just jailbroke my 3GS to bypass an iTunes error, and now I'm deciding whether or not to keep it jailbroken. It all depends on if it wastes too much battery life or not. All I'm going to use is PDANet and Cydia, no background apps, or winterboard, etc.

I don't think it would significantly do anything to your battery.

PDANet will prolly drain the most out of it.

I've got an error which you get from downgrading (think it's 1505) basically, whenever I turn off the iPhone and turn it on again, it goes into recovery mode and I have to boot it out. Jailbreaking it fixes this.

However, if I can upgrade to 3.1 now and LOSE the jailbreak... I'll be happy with that. Or I can stay jailbroken if the battery doesn't plummet

Why don't you just use 3.1 then?

Haven't read about people having any problems with it?

I had problems with the Messages app crashing on launch. And that was the reason I downgraded... So I wonder if it was just a dodgy restore at the time

    Hm.

I can't find anything about Error 1505 anywhere, are you positive that is the error # it gives you?

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You updated to some 3.1 beta version, then downgraded to 3.0 and now everytime you reboot it boots into recovery mode?
