Hi guys I wanted to ask a quick question.

NOTICE:I have no clue if this goes against the rules of iPTF if it does Mods please delete it.

ok well I downloaded the 2.2.1 firmware for my iPhone on a website, but it turns out they put all the firmware files in a zip file. like it was the firmware but instead of being .ipsw it was a .zip file so what i did i just changed the extension to .ipsw

do you think it will work. I need to upgrade fast for my reasons and im too lazy to go find a good copy of it.

All of the ones I have used came over as .ZIP files and you are safe to just change the file extension.

Are you using a MAC or a PC (saving it is a little different on a Mac)?

It didn't work for me, but by logic, it should. Use Firefox to download as ipsw.

That's why I was asking him about a PC or a Mac...

To do it via Safari just save it as some other file; such as a .DOC or a .PDF Once it downloads change the ".doc.zip" to .ipsw and it should work.

    Hopefully that makes sense.
