Im on Cydia today trying out some Media Players as I want one that supports .rm files. ive had to do a lot of installing, uninstalling, reinstalling.. can this do any damage or have any bad effect on the device/file system or just generally slow it down?

no as long as the things that your installing not affecting with the hardware then it shouldnt be a problem. Just to be on the safe side though, I wouldnt do it too often

the ipod and iphone and any media player that is Flash based hard drive is affected when you change files and stuff...there is a limit before it starts getting slow...like a rechargeable battery
but unless you reinstall lyk a billion times ur fine..just reember after two years or so u start seeing some slowing down...its not that bad though
so install and uninstall as much as you want
