I am wondering if there is even a microphone on the touch? There are so many applications that i can use right now if there was a microphone on touch. But there isn't. Do you think it's possible to get like a headphone with microphone in it and plug that with the touch? Would that work?

A microphone is nothing more than a minature speaker, however, the problem is that there is no circuitry inside the touch to take the signals, amplify them and input them back into the touch.

I suspect the Touch uses ASIC (application specific integrated circuits) which might or might not have the capability to take audio input which might require reprogramming. Heck we're still haveing trouble JBing the thing much less going down to the chip level and reprogramming it to do something else.

i wouldnt be surprised if apple designed the headphone port so that it cant ever accept microphone input. the same way that they only give you half of the apps that the iphone has. they dont want the ipod touch competeing with the iphone, because they make more money off of you if you buy the iphone instead. and lets face it... 99% of companies, thats all that they're after.
