    Hi guys!

Believe it or not, I've said at OS1.1.4 for almost a year now because it worked so well for me, and I was a bit lazy to go and get my apps all over again.

Now that 2.2 is jailbroken, I'm thinking about finally upgrading, but before I do, I want to make sure I'll be able to get a few key apps for free like I did back in the good old OS 1.1.4 days.

Does Cydia or something similar have all these for free:

    1. A great ebook reader (I use Books.app. Hoping there's something this good)
    * the ebook reader has to be able to remember my place and be able to do white text on black background.

    2. A good VNC client
    3. A app that will activate AFP filesharing (FTP would be nice too)
    4. Google maps & Mail.app
    5. A flashlight than can do any color

I can do all of these things right now, and I don't want to lose them if I upgrade.

    Thanks a ton, guys!

And they're all free? That would rock!

I ask because I briefly got to use a jailbreaked iPod at version 2.2, but I couldn't find anything in Cydia. Am I supposed to add a bunch of repositories first?

And which repositories should I add to get what I want?
(I'd appreciate just a brief list of the ones you use.)

    Thanks!

I obviously haven't had a chance to browse the app store thru my iPod yet. Could someone give me links to these kinds of apps? I won't upgrade until I know I can get them for free, since I didn't pay anything before.

I had a lot of trouble finding these last time I checked. Could someone point me in the 5 right directions? What do you suggest for each of these? I'd really appreciate 5 links. Thanks!

He's right, you can get ALL* of those from the app store, 3/5 of them are FREE. =/

    * (Except maybe 3)

    THE FLASHLIGHT
    VNC CLIENT -- Mac PC
    E-Reader

And Google Maps and Mail are on it.

    1. BookShelf LE (free, by Zachary Bedell of Books.app fame). BookShelf ($9.99) removes the 10-book limit that the free version has.
    3. Discover (free), has own FTP server to upload via client, Files Lite
    4. Google Maps and Mail already exist on the iPod. Google Earth also available (free)
