My wi-fi comes and goes on a frequent basis...I do have a clear plastic case on it that covers the wi-fi sensor, does this type of case tend to make the sensor less sensitive, or should it have no impact on the sensor's capability of picking up the wi-fi connection? Thanks for any help on this...

Seriously, it can detect wireless internet connections through floors, walls, buildings, etc. Putting a case on your iPod should not decrease sensitivity at all.
