Does apple recycle old MacBook Batteries?

    I bought a new battery since the one that came with it is getting old it's beyond it's 1,000 charge but maintains very good so I wanna know if Apple will take them if I goto Crocker Park Apple Store and have it recycled. The Battery is in the Replace Soon state anyway, So will they recycle the battery for me? - I'm talking about the 4th Generation MacBooks

    Does the battery have to be empty as in discharged of it's current charge?
