Does anyone know if V3.0 includes an API to display the video output of an App on an external monitor (eg. a TV connected to the video output cable)? I know this has been demonstrated on jailbroken apps (with a performance penalty).

I think having the option to play a video game on a large TV screen would be a huge feature. Kind of like a pocket Wii.

As Teslanaut said, it was it 2.0, but hidden.
In 3.0, it is in settings for TV-out, so I'm saying yes.

It was undocoumented API :> and as undocumented API, it's denied to use by AppStore rules.

I think author of topic means legalization of this API, note that iPhone proximity sensors API was also undocumented in 2.x, but now in 3.0 it will be documented and allowed to use in AppStore apps ;]

    You can check by yourself

Well that's apple, they have a modified iPhone they use for the video out, if you look you can see a black cable coming out of the back, and not through the 30-pin dock connector.

So they really don't need any software to to that anyway.

Plus, they ARE Apple, so they can do whatever they want.

Yes. When Apple said they are adding over 1000 new API's I wondered if that might also include the previously undocumented video output feature.

Stephen.4 mentions: "In 3.0, it is in settings for TV-out"
    Encouraging!
