No, it doesn't brick unless you install it while 1.1.2 is jailbroken on your iPod..

Apple wouldn't release an update that bricks your ipod unless it was jailbroken

Does it actually brick it if you have a jailbroken ipod on 1.1.2, or can you just force restore.

I don't think anyone on this forum is going to try that so I guess we have to wait for a noob somewhere else to try it and then come running over here for help.
Or maybe this doesn't brick at all and I'll look like an idiot when someone reads this in the future.

alright. cause i was using categories with my ipod, and my home screen is blank and i dont know how to fix it. so i was just going to restore it, but it wont let me unless i update to 1.1.3. so i forced recovery mode, but still wants me to update before it restores.

    im screwed arent i?

Can't you download the old firmware separately and option-click restore to use that instead of the 1.1.3?

I don't actually know, it just seems strange to me that there should be no way back. It's just stuff on a disk after all. Can't see how it could be bricked on an iPod at all.
