I just bought 2nd gen iPod touch yesterday, which itunes automatically updated to 2.1.1. This then killed the touch. Has anyone else had this problem with 2nd Gen? restore doesn't work either, gets an error code (6). Tried to put the 2.1 firmware back on, but that came up with error code (5).

    Not happy Apple...

well if you just bought it bring it back?
i haven't heard of it but i mean, they cant blame you for jailbreaking cause its just not out yet, your best bet is to just bring it back. I'm sure you'll get a new one.

they better...So does this mean Apple screwed up their 2.1.1 firmware? I've been reading that 2nd gens should come with this...but apparently not.

it'd be okay if it screwed up but could restore though

it may just be a manufacturing issue too, something that disables it from updating or something. or your update was corrupted...

I didn't mention that this happens to be my 2nd 2nd gen (after returning it once already), pretty much ruling hardware errors out. I downloaded the update heaps of times, even from mirrors and shift click updating. Maybe Australia iPod touches are dodgy?

would you be willing to wait for like a week or two?
you could ask for a refund and then go and buy in about a week because it may just be a bug in all the ipod in your area
