I have found that my iPod touch is pretty good when it comes to helping me figure out where I am going.

What I do is set the route I want to go on and then put it there so it stays on my cache. All I do is hop in my car and drive along the route, the location services feature does not require a wi-fi connection. I live in a pretty dense area so the location services tells me where I am at all times, accurate within 20 meters. It displays it on the map so I know if I am getting close and should be prepared to turn or if I have a long ways to go.

I regularly use the GPS together with Maps or the GPS Kit app to navigate on my iPhone when I'm driving (or often just to find out how lost I am and where the hull I have ended up!). Very useful.

I'm not sure how useful the iPod Touch would be though. Maps app is good as long as you know where you are but then again it's probably easier to just use a local AtoZ road map. How does your location service work without WiFi? Is there GPS in the touch? I thought it needed a WiFi connection. Am I going mad. I don't know. So stop talking to yourself then.

My iPhone came in handy with the maps the other day when I was doing some work in Liverpool.

you don't need to connect to wi-fi to use the location services feature.

You don't need to be on WiFi to use the location services on the Touch? Hows it work then?

My parents asked me once for directions, so I used my iPod to get the directions, at home. So the directions was saved on the cache, and that's the only time I used it.
