Newsstand could easily be replaced with a folder containing those applications. I personally don't like newsstand maybe I would if say the newspapers did look like interactive newspapers but they're all apps, why the newsstand when these newspapers and magazines are just another app. Either way I just use RAG3HACK's site to hide my newsstand along with voice memos. Either I install the passbook tool on my iPhone or use the site on my iPad. This works on ios6 without jailbreak btw guys (sorry if this has been posted before I haven't been on much lately). i just think that the magazines and newspapers should look like the real deal. That would make for an interesting experience.
I have Distro in there. I like the way newsstand looks, especially for those who read alot of magazines. Since there aren't many free ones that I'm interested in I don't use it much though.
Newsstand, and e-publications in general, are a no-starter for me. With hundreds of thousands of free publications already out there, there is little or no justification to invest in a virtual magazine that I can't even retire to the bathroom-library. Even a magazine I enjoy, such as OtakuUSA, doesn't offer sufficient savings to warrant an electronic subscription. If more publications started thinking in terms of market-share rather than straight subscription revenue, they would find themselves in a much better position in days to come.
