This is a discussion thread for the "Do You Think an iPod Classic Update is Necessary?" story posted on the front page.
IMO, No. The iPod Touch is much more worth the money for functionality. In terms of storage, the Classic is great, but it's good playing music and a few boring games and etc. is all it can do. And using the click wheel is pretty outdated.
I'd like to see an iPod Touch with 128Gb of flash storage haha! That would cost so much. They do need to let go of the Classic.
I think it could use a higher resolution screen, and more space. Only so that it could support HD Content more readily. I have 2 iPhones, 2 iPod Touches, and an iPad. None of those devices can hold my 23477 songs, but my iPod Classic can. It still very much has place in my lineup. I still use it over iTunes Match.
I didn't even realise the classic still existed. I don't see any reason to buy one over a touch - I mean; who has THAT many songs?!?
I know of plenty of people with enough songs to fill a Classic. I thought I had a lot but quite a few of the guys I work with have way more than I do.
This is so true, watch the whole thing...he talks about the iPod and everything, watch the whole thing, the whole thing!!
Lots of people like to be able to skip tracks easily without having to pull the ipod out of their pocket
I wish they would discontinue it and start making ipod touches with at least 128gb of storage, the new options should be imo 32gb minimum and then move up from there. 32 64 128 should be the sizes touches come in but that wont happen for at least another 3 or 4 generations of ipods I still have my ipod classic 160gb and love it.
