I heard when you jailbreak you cannot automatically get app or firmware updates anymore. Is this true?! I have a 2.2.1 iPod touch 2g jailbroken using QuickFreedom by the way.

    THANKS!!!

You CAN do firmware updates, but they'll just erase your jailbreak. And you CAN update apps, with no risk.

Whenever a new firmware update comes out, the iPhone Dev Team will being on pwning it. Upgrade with QuickPwn when they say so.

So the "check for updates" under "applications" still works exactly like before? Ican still be notified when updates are available automatically?

Yes. But do not upgrade till the dev team says so.

Yes that is true and when you go to the app store and search and download a app you already have its gonna ask you if you want to update or cancel reinstall

ok, but can you get updates without going to the appstore page. you can go to application>>check for updates right?

it just sounded like that was what you said.

I wish it was like the PSP, where the update features searches for the next jailbroken update, and upgrades to it, if you are jailbroken, if not Itunes? will look for the next official update. Would have to be a real easy installer though, no manually doing stuff.
