How else could they update for compatibility? After all, the demo iPad on 1 Sep was obviously already running the beta, and Epic Games, Inc. are obviously close with Apple.

You think it's a typo? Which part, and what did they mean to say?

If it's out for devs, it's definitely not out for devs who aren't business buddies with Apple. Us indie devs are not getting any love yet. XCode Preview 3 is the end of it.

the reason why it shows iOS4 or above is that it is also availibe for the iphone / ipod touch.. and the guy who wrote the description did a simple mistake in it.. pretty simple huh?

I agree, it's probably a typo. But it is possible that select developers are given access to Apple alpha software. Remember how EA and Sega were demonstrating their iPhone games way back in March of 2008? Apple must have approached them at the very least several weeks prior to the special event. Epic Games is pretty big, too. (Gears of War anyone? Unreal * anyone?)

Well, for one, there is only... one kind of iPad, so "iPad devices" seems too much of a plural.

Why would they bother fixing bugs in their their app on an early beta firmware, since bugs will likely come and go as the beta evolves? Surely they would choose to wait for the GM release or at least a late beta before spending any serious time debugging.

To answer the question, yes, I bet some dev has it, and his name is John Ive.

But, seriously, someone has it. They always do.
