I totally agree with you~~~~~
The new iPod Touchs do NOT come with the new firmware. The device is marked down $20, and then that $20 goes towards your update.
Honestly, I do not see it as a huge deal, it is ONLY $20.. if you spent $300-$400 on the device if you are an iTunes user, whats another $20?
I think its shady for the customers who purchased the iTouch before the price drop and the new apps. I think they should be given a free upgrade or credit of some sort.
You DON'T have to upgrade.. if you don't like the price, don't purchase it I guess.
they need the money to run all these ads on the internet... still should be for free though
I don't understand why everyone is angry, Apple can do what ever they want with it. They still made a great product. But I guess you can still get the Apps through applerepo.com in installer. But it doesn't have the new map feature. Its actually pretty cool. But the 1.1.3 interface is so much more faster and it is so much more awesome. Except for the stupid dock. I really wish there was a way to change the dock in 1.1.3. It would be nice if Apple made the update package free though. Im just saying my opinion so don't flame me.
I love my JB'd Touch, but ...
I think that $20.00 is fine and dandy. There are a lot of people out there (myself included) that bought other devices such as HD-DVD players and Sony PS3's, etc, etc. when they were brand new, or computers as well, and these devices cost big bucks when they were brand new but have come down in cost. Apple was pretty darned cool to give out a rebate to those who bought the iPhone early in its life, and that's fine and dandy, but in my opinion, especially being a computer tech (previous sales and tech, now just tech), I know that the new stuff costs more in the long run and right up front. New stuff always does.
I might stick with my jailbroke Touch for now and wait until Apple either changes their mind or until someone gets this version jailbroke, but I don't think that we have to be so upset over the fact that, plain and simple, we didn't have it before, we MIGHT get it for free, but we have had the fun of having our devices for so much longer than many people, and those who purchased theirs after the 27th (seen in another post) might get theirs for free as well. GOOD FOR THEM!
I also work for a software company and understand that development costs are always retrieved somehow, and it's usually those who want the features first that pay the most.
Noooo....to pay for these apps....LöL.... :

Jailbreaking makes us loyal
At the end of the day Apple decided to charge $20 bucks for these new apps. Big deal ~ that's pocket change really. They are a company with a primary goal to make money. They are a business and not a charity. If you can't handle that ~ don't pay and don't receive the apps.
Personally, I'm against jailbreaking and think you are crazy to run the risk of messing up your very expensive little gadget for a handful of apps not that big of a deal. The device already does a lot and now with these apps, alot more. Suck it up guys.
pocket change!? are you rich or something? 20$ can seem like a lot of money to some people! im still living with my parents and i know the true value of a dollar, 20$ is a lot of money to me! and im not going to download applications for 20$, i expect them to be free, im not going to try to suck any money from my parents like a spoiled brat(not calling you one or anything). thats my opinion about it.
I really doubt that Apple is going to make the apps free. This is different than the iPhone thing. Hundreds of dollars were involved there, and the apps are only $20, and despite the majority of posts on this board, jailbreakers are the minority of iPod consumers. The average Touch users probably doesn't even know that this board exists, let alone how to jailbreak. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't hold your breath for the apps to be free/refunded. Just suck it up and pay the 20, or keep it jailbroken. EIther way Apple wins- they either got 400, or 420 from your pocket!
