Do iOS betas require shsh?

    When betas expire, they become completely void. You can't use them period.

    (Unless you remove the "beta" key in a certain file, which would require root access=jailbreak.)

    But couldn't you restore, get an activation error, jailbreak, and take off the "Beta" key from SystemVersion.plist?

    Yeah, as long as you can jailbreak and have the SHSHs and the IPSW. Seems like a lot of work to revert to an obsolete beta though.

    I guess you mean short story short, don't bother trying to restore to an obsolete beta firmware coorect?

    You won't get an activation error, you'll just get an activation loop. The Setup Assistant will finish, to respring, to start the Setup Assistant again.

    Ok, but couldn't you take out the "Beta" key and the second time setup assistant would finish?

    You could take out the beta key and it'd likely work first time. Either that or you could bypass activation with an SSH Terminal and some time.
