what's the main of jailbreak? did it necessary for ipad to do this?
Read the forums or the front page at www.ifans.com or ipadimo.com. The reason people jailbreak is to remove some of the restrictions on their device, which allows non-App Store apps to run, or else to do things like custom-skin their device so the interface looks different, or to add things like multitasking (or previously, cut and paste) which were missing from the base iPhoneOS.
Apple recomments not to jailbreak of course... But actually it's giving you possibilities to get the best out of your iPod touch or iPhone. For example Multitasking like Jarlath said. But for now there's no jailbreak for the iPad, or at least none has been released. And tomorrow will be the great event, when Apple will show us the iPhone OS 4. Like many people think and I hope, a jailbreak won't be necessary on 4.0, if Apple adds a few things to improve the possibilities of an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
So for now: No iPad jailbreak.
In the future: Hopefully no jailbreak needed Please Register or Log in to view images

Yes. You do.
No, but seriously, it's highly recommended.
