Do apps have to have that semi-circle?

    I mean the one around all apps at the top. Most visible on the Weather icon. There is a semi-circle that ends at the half of an icon. Does it HAVE to be there for an app to be in the App Store? I didn't see an app without it.

    You mean the curve? Yes it does need it. But i think the ipod does it its self. Snice you get squares in the itunes preview.

    developers can disable the overlay for there app icons if they want

    Yes, in the Info.plist file, add in UIPrerenderedIcon (Like ChriB).
