I have like 12,000 texts stored on my phone. Does this slow down the phone/SMS app?

the sms database would only be like 2mb if your only sending text, pictures are more, but i dont see it using alot of space or slowing you down

I have no MMS, just SMS, so just like 2 MB? It's just sometimes when I load the SMS app messages take a bit to show up ... Forgot whether it was like this ever since ...

I always clear my conversations, but a friend still has every text he's ever sent and received still on his 3G and it's not noticeably slowed down.

I notice that when I have a lot of texts saved on my phone the general opening, closing and viewing of the SMS app becomes laggy. I have a 3G also, and it's on the stock firmware.

So I put it to the test for you, cleared half my texts... It sped up, cleared them all.. It was perfect.

I usually only keep the threads of people who I talk to regularly through text, saved. The odd text from my buddy Timmy, I delete and so on.
