Here is a link to a youtube video of my external battery pack that I made for the ipod touch. It will also work with the iphone. I hope people try it out and improve on it!

More info and parts list here.

Very nice. I made one for my old 1st Nano back in the day out of a mints can and a 9volt battery.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but my charger had 3 pieces.

    1. iPod Dock connector
    2. A 9v battery cable
    3. A 9v battery

    It works perfectly!

    4000mah vs 230mah

I considered a 9v as well but the 9v battery only holds 1/3 of the charge of the ipod touch battery. My battery pack holds 4x the charge of the touch battery. Thanks but the 9v just didn't meet my power needs, a quick fix maybe, but not a long term solution.
