    Ok, so I am having a crack at web design on my laptop while my parents are overseas and I am staying with the oldies.

    Currently I have an annoying div problem. I want to get rid of the gap between my main content div (bit with icons) and the footer image. The only way I can think of doing it is with a negative position, but I don't like that idea

    Don't be harsh with my website design / layout, I only picked this up 2 days ago.

    you could try display: inline;

    if that doesn't work, could you tell us your source code? Kinda difficult to fix if we don't know we're dealing with :3

    It would help to see your source. Without it we are pretty much just guessing.

    Default padding?
    body, div { padding:0px; margin:0px; }
