For some reason my Ipod (8gb 2.2 firmware) just stopped working. It is a dead screen that seems to just blink random black lines for no reason. I have attached a screenshot. When I attach the ipod to the computer iTunes does recognize the ipod but the display is lost. is there any way to repair this myself? I am currently in Mozambique and would love to see it working here. thanks

Have you tried restoring in DFU?

Yeah wow that kind of does look like hardware malfunction.

I would try trouble shooting it home the home and lock buttons and also try restoring it to a standard firmware if Jailbroken or just restore. Was there any damage inflicted on the ipod?

You can always contact Apple and ask for a new one

Thanks guys. I know I can get a new one form Apple as it is clearly a malfunction. I never dropped it. BUt I am in Africa and am sure there is no Apple store here. So I will have to try restoring it again from here. Hopefully it goes ok!

Yea, it looks like a hardware problem. If you have a warranty, you are able get a new one. One time, I had scratched on the screen and BestBuy told me that the ipod needed to have a hardware issue inorder to get a new one.
