Why can't you use your other speakers? if they connect thru the headphones jack, there should be no problem, as the iPod will detect that and shut its internal speaker automatically.

These are like portable speakers that attach extrenally. I do have headphones but I wish to use these speakers because they're shaped like legos

So is there a way to shut off the internal speakers? >_> I can't fit the jack of my headphones onto the iTouch with the Speakers in the way.

I bought cool looking external speakers. They're shaped like legos.

turn the speakers volume down to zero since there're seperate volume settings for the headphone/external speakers-jack this will have the same effect as disabling the builtin speakers

And then you plugin the external speakers theyll just work fine

I'm sorry... you aren't making any sense.

So you want to use your lego speakers, but you want to mute the ipod speakers?

    Listen up.

When you plug ANY device into the headphone jack, it switches the sound to the device instead of the built in speakers... no disabling of the speakers needed.

IF the device plugs into the dock connector, it may be incompatible.

and PLEASE clarify... it makes things so much easier.
