Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the slide unlock feature on the IPod Touch? I have mine jailbroken on 1.1.4, so if it is a jailbreak app then thats ok. I don't find that I will 'accidently' turn on the ipod all that much, so the slide unlock feature is a pain, especially when all I want to do is turn down the volume.

    Thanks

Well, you can turn it off. Just go into Settings-->General-->Auto-lock-->Never

or you can turn it off with Services or NetServices. This will run your battery down though so you may want to turn down brightness

This doesn't turn of the slide lock, this just makes it so the ipod wont lock itself automatically, if I hit the top button to turn off the screen I still need to slide the thing over to unlock.

Ultimatley I'd like to hit the top button on the ipod to shut off the screen and then hit the 'home' button to turn it back on and -not- have to unclock it by sliding my finger. I know, I know ... sounds like a minor complaint, but it would make things a lot easier as far as volume control goes ... seeing as they didn't give us a hardware volume control on the outside

just use customize to make a "tapper". you will still have to touch the screen, but as long as you touch close to the bottom, it will unlock.

for volume control you can just hit the home button twice really fast when the ipods locked

That's exactly what I was looking for, Thanks.

As for customize for the tap to unlock, thats a great tip ... Just going to wait until customize is official for 1.1.4

Thanks again, this forum is a great resource!
