    Hey!

I recently updated to iOS 4 and I noticed a huge battery drain due to wifi staying on even when the iPod is locked. So does anyone know of a way to disable persistent wifi without disabling push notifications, etc?

(Please don't tell me to turn wifi off... That's what I do for now but I forget it sometimes and my battery suffers a lot...)

    Thanks!

The only solution is to turn wifi off.

even if you could turn off persistant wifi, you wouldnt get push notifacations until you unlock it.

This is one of the many reasons I don't want to upgrade to 4.0. Also, does persistent wifi drain your battery regardless of what you use on your iDevice. I'm just a little curious because I don't have any apps that would use wifi when I'm not using the device (in sleep mode).

Well I don't really care... But it would be cool if it could connect to the Internet every X minutes to check for push notifications and mail.

Yes. If you have push notifications or push mail enabled, persistent wifi will drain your battery no matter what's running...

Disable multitasking and that should turn off persistent wifi.

No it wouldn't. Because MC 8gbs have persistant wifi without multitasking.

Hmm, I guess I must have seen it wrong. I just noticed that when I had multitasking enabled, I always had WiFi on, and when I disabled it, WiFi turned off when I locked the iPod.
