Is it possible to DISABLE the physical hardware power button?

I want this because my iPhone 3G is currrently very glitchy (if that's the word I may use..) and will only turn on occasionally after a bootloop, and if I hit the sleep button/let it autolock, the device will not turn on again with the wake button (the screen still looks lit up). The only way to power back on is to reboot and let it go through a bootloop (got only knows how long).

    Any help here?

    All help appreciated,
    Alex

    Try restoring the iPhone.

The home button works as wake/unlock button for the iPhone. You can also download Activator through Cydia, and you can set a specific function to lock the iPhone (such as sliding your finger down from the status bar), or the iPhone can be locked with SB Settings.

Thanks, but you don't understand. My phone's power buttons works, it's just that if I hit the power button and the phone attempts to lock up, there is a 2/3 chance that it won't turn back on without having to be rebooted and stuck in a boot loop. Restoring does not fix this problem either.

So you mean it's not a power button issue, it's a locking issue? If that's the case, it's likely a hardware problem and you could probably have your phone replaced.
