Hi, I have an iPod Touch (second gen.) with an unmodified, not jailbroken Apple OS. I frequently work in a photographic darkroom and I would like to be able to completely disable the iPod's backlight in order to eliminate the possibility that the screen might flash on and expose film/paper. Older models allowed this easily in the backlight timer settings. It is my understanding that the display technology used in the iPod Touch makes this type of setting very impractical as it relies heavily on the backlight to make the screen visible which explains why Apple may have dropped it as a standard feature. I was wondering if there is any way that I can get the backlight completely disabled anyway so that I can completely avoid the possibility of destroying my work or the work of others in the darkroom?
