How long since you last restarted it? I mean, it's basically a tiny computer, and like your Mac or PC, it does crash or become unusuable after enough time... I just restarted my Mac after 16 days this morning...

Mine has done that a few times. And mine will freeze for awhile. Just be patient, and if that don't work, force it.

The longer it runs, the more clogged up its gonna get, you can avoid this by restarting regularly.

you sure your battery just didnt die? if your ipod's battery stoops low enough it won't do anything until you give it a sufficient charge before the os runs agains

No no - like holding down the top sleep/wake button until the slider pops up to turn off your iPod Touch... And then turning it off and then back on...
