for whatever reason, i dont believe my ipod has a dfu mode. i think the bootrom is messed up. ive tried endlessly and nomatter what my timing, it always just goes into recovery mode. anybody experience this or have any ideas? this thing is brand spanking new i dont see how there could be a problem with it....

Hold home and lock buttons for 15 seconds then let go of the lock button and hold home for 15 seconds. Does that help?

Use redsn0w and that will tell you if it is in DFU. It can just jailbreak it and then it will at least turn on.

Use this: www.redsn0w.com. It is untethered and a LOT safer. Believe me tethered broke one of my ipods.
