Can it also be used to kick a device out of DFU mode? Whenever I'm in DFU mode and need to come out but without restoring, I just hold the home button while I plug my iPod into the computer. This pushes it into Recovery mode. First, you'll see the white Apple logo, but keep holding the home button. It will go into Recovery mode in a moment. From there I just do a force shut down (hold both home and power buttons until the screen turns off). Then just turn it back on like normal. The white Apple logo will come up and boot normal.

How can it screw your iPod up? It's just a DFU mode. And I swear I know Gman from some other forum...

I'm sorry to ask, but what does being brown have anything to do with anything?

To OP: Could there eventually be an actual app on the Springboard that could put the iDevice into DFU mode? Or is that a stretch?
