I am jailbreaking my friend's iPod right now, and I seem to be having some issues with DFU timing. I've jailbroken 3 iPods already, and I am using the same program I always use, and yet the iPod keeps powering back on during the power+home sequence. Any tips?

is it Mac OS X 10.5.6? If so you need the fix.

You're just not holding it long enough or holding it too long. You need to have good timing.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the Mac bug.

Nah, I'm running good old 'reliable' XP SP2. I don't know why I can't get it to work...should I release power just as it powers down? I didn't have this problem with any of the others...odd...

Try unplugging and plugging in/different cable/differnt port. If you try DFU with no cable plugged in, it does that exact same thing.

Ah! Thanks madcowz! I double-checked my USB ports and found out I mistakenly plugged it into the broken one. *palms forehead* Fail.

Hehehe. Happens to me too. It was really funny how my brother complained about the Mac OS X issue. "Why don't you try putting it in DFU mode when it's not plugged in?"

Now I really want a program that can jailbreak an iPod using a pre-jailbroken one via bluetooth or a ipod2ipod cable. Best. Application. Ever.

Yeah. I know it's possible that if you have a pwned iBoot, then you can pwn urself again directly FROM iBoot. That's pointless seeing as you are already pwned. But if you could use your pwned iboot on someone else's stock stuff, then BAM! that would be epic.
