I tried to to the fix so your deleted mail actually gets sent to your gmail's trash folder, but I cannot find the settings for it. i went to my account, then to advanced. but there are no settings for sent mail, drafts, or deleted mail. am I doing something wrong?

First, make sure that IMAP is enabled in your Gmail settings so that your emails aren't just being forwarded to your touch.

When I delete, the emails will appear both in the Mail.app trash and the Gmail folder trash (in the app). Delete the mails in the Mail.app trash to fully delete them. If you only empty the Gmail folder trash, they'll keep coming back on your touch.

I hope this is what you needed.

sorta. I need the oposite. I need files deleted from my ipod to also get removed from my gmail.

EDIT: turns out I set up my email wrong, and selected gmail instead of other. now I see all the settings.
