Okay, don't get mad at me for posting this.
I've looked everywhere for the answer, so don't tell me to go search.

I need to delete Cydia and re-install it because it's causing problems for me.
It makes my iPod crash, and so did Rock.

I think all I need to do is get rid of the "essential upgrade" Cydia tells you to get right after you open it upon jailbreaking/dowloading Cydia.

A friend has the same iPod and didn't download that upgrade, and he's never had his iPod crash like mine does.
It's the only thing that makes sense.

I found where you can do it in mobile terminal, but mine didn't quite pan out so well.

I opened it up, typed "su" and pressed enter.
when I'm supposed to type in "alpine" the letters don't show up on the screen,
    and it says "Password:"

    wtf.

    Can anyone help me.. please?

The letters aren't supposed to show up. The password is alpine. Type in alpine. Also, I think you need to type "su root", not just "su".

Have you changed your SSH password? If not then try using WinSCP or a Mac UNIX Terminal to input the SU command and alpine password.

Go into cydia; go to manage; packages; find cydia installer; reinstall; do same for rock (but remove)

i really don't think it could be a cydia update causing the problems. Have you installed nothing else?
