Debian Wi-Fi issues

    So basically the problem is I cannot use the Wi-Fi on my laptop with Debian Linux on it. It's the latest version and I have tried to install everything, when I set it up it asked for a wireless SID, I know that to mean what's the local Wi-Fi hotspot, so I put in the name, then it asked for a KEY, so I put in the password, what's going wrong here?

    No this is when I was installing Debian. Without the GUI for installation....
