Just a thought I had a while ago.

Doesn't it seem like all the popular people are not really realeasing anything new for the ipod touches/iphones? I know that the new iphone hasn't been unlocked yet, the new itouch not even jailbroken. But, it seems to me, that there hasn't been much progress. What I've noticed over time is that most of my favorite sites to visit about news, including the iphone dev's blog, geohot, and zibri (i know he stole code, but I find it amusing still...) have been blank. Nothing new posted in a while. The iPhone Dev Team did talk a little bit about what they are working on. I guess a few things would be nice, for those of us who would like to help in one way or another. Keep us updated. Try to tell us what is going on as it is going on. I'd like to learn more about the iphone unlocking process, but yet i'm restricted to what has been put out on the internet. Information would be nice. Not anything large, but just an update now and then. And maybe some new stuff. It seems like the iPhone/iTouch hacking community has died, and maybe they just need a little help. Either way, just a little info would be nice.

Yeah , it does seem to be dying down since App Store.
Maybe if the 2G gets jailbroken there will be a rebirth , all the young noobs wanting to know how to "jb itouch"
    Good times good times.

why don't you respond to the content of the post, instead of nitpicking little things you don't like?

they're trying really hard to hack the new itouch, and unlock the 3g iphone. it's not a linear process. the community hasn't died, they're just busy. when something happens, you'll hear about it. but it's certainly not dead.

    The community does indeed seem...quieter.

    Welcome.

I do agree with what you said (And AtomicMuffin, I hate the word iTouch, sorry

    )

There's really not that much activity with the jailbreaking anymore.
I stopped jailbreaking my iPod Touch after 2.1 was out.
I really don't see a need for it. Apple pretty much demolished it with 2.1.
Themes can be nice for spicing up your iPod after a while of jet black, but I'm used to it now.
I plan on getting a 2G soon, I really don't mind if a jailbreak ever comes out for it. If one does, I most certainly will try it out. But, it just doesn't seem necessary anymore.

I do think what the iPhone Dev Team has done has been phenomenal, though.

    Why I'm still here I don't know.
It's a habit pretty much to be here as much as possible

Ok here is how it goes.

    1. The iPhone Dev Team is working their hardest to unlock the iPhone 3G. At the same time, Chronic-Dev is working on the iPod Touch 2G Jailbreak. They are much different than the actual and first iPod and iPhone, so it will take some time.

    2. The Developers of apps are mostly developing in the App Store now because their apps will be seen by everyone instead of a select group.

    3. Hacking will never be demolished, once iSoulSeek and Pwn Player are released, people will come back to jailbreaking like before. It is just a matter of time.

So no, hacking is not dead.

Maybe this was Apple's plan all along, die down the hacking community. But we are still strong!
