As many of you have heard by now, I recently had an issue where my iPod touch slid from my pocket into the raining parking lot. it has a dented top near the antenna, and works fine otherwise. I'm a pretty superficial kind of guy, and I am quite upset with my ipod for being anything less than perfect.

My question is this, is it worth the trouble to find a way to return it, or should I just put a case on it and call it a day?

If you can, return it, and then buy a case for it. New ipods are always great. Especially when you can hack/jailbreak them.

Can you post a picture of it. I have been wondering what it looks like.

Doesn't look that bad. I don't think that they would allow you to return it though. There would have to be a software/firmware failure.

It doesn't look as bad as you said it did.

if you can get them to take it back that would be great, but I could not imagine them taking it back.

Slap a case on the sucker a call it a day.

delete all of the files or something and mess the firmware up...
    then return it.

Depends where you bought it. Did you buy it from a retailer? If so, I suggest you pack it all up and try your darndest to return it. If you got it from Apple recently, just request RMA and you can claim it was damaged from shipping.

Take personal responsibility for your accident and buy a new one if it bothers you that much. Not likely to be a popular suggestion but I thought id throw it out there anyway. Or at least sell the damaged one to someone who doesnt mind, at a price that is reasonable and takes account of the damage, and buy a new one, then you lose financially by a proportionate and fair amount.

well Steve, I appreciate your honesty. I was considering selling it in a Jailbroken state (adds value?) to someone for 250 plus offer them free help with whatever they need, forever. the problem is, many of my friends are superficial just like me and they all want a shiney new iPod. I got it from Apple, but im considering some sort of "s(c)ams club" type of solution.
